PLOT 2

Annie hitches a ride in a Jeep CJ-5 with an unseen driver; when the driver refuses Annie's stop at Crystal Lake, she flees and is chased through the woods before having her throat slashed by the killer.

After Steve returns to town for supplies, Ralph arrives at the camp, and tells Marcie, Ned and Alice that they're all doomed. Ned encounters a stranger at the camp and goes into a nearby cabin in search of them while Marcie tells Jack about a dream she had that terrified her during storms as a storm comes up and they seek shelter in their cabin and have sex, Unaware that Ned is lying dead on the top bunk, having had his throat slashed.

In 1958, two camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake, Barry and Claudette sneak away from a gathering to have sex, however someone stalking the two of them attacks them and kills them both with a knife.

今週の映画ＤＥ英語は、夏も真っ只中、やっぱりひんやりホラーってことで、ホラーの金字塔『１３日の金曜日』をお届けしよう。１３日の金曜日は１９８０年に公開された映画で、当時自分はまだ小学生であった。その後もよくテレビで繰り返し放送されていたね。みんなよく話題にしていたものだ。

でも、最近はからっきしこういった映画はテレビで放送しないよね。世の中がこううるさくなっちゃあ、この手の映画なんてとてもテレビで放送は出来ないか。昔は女性の裸でも平気でテレビで放送していたものだ。あの頃の時代は一体なんだったんだろう・・・と思うと同時に、宮崎駿の映画ばかり繰り返し放送しているような今のテレビ放送の映画枠も何なんだ・・・と思うところ。結局なんなんだ？？

PLOT 4 

 As Jack tries to ignite a fire, Peter's dead wife manifests herself to wake Peter from being unconscious and distracts Jack. Peter overpowers Jack and saves Ann and escapes. Boyce douses Jack in gasoline as revenge for being shot, and Jack shoots him in the head before being consumed by the flames.

While Ann and Chloe re-unite, Peter reenters the burning house and confronts the ghosts of his family; they forgive him and tell him to leave to save himself. Peter barely escapes the fire, having finally discovered the truth about the past and accepted his family's deaths.

Peter eventually decides to return to his old house to confront his memories and, with Ann's help, realizes that he did not kill his family; a local man named Boyce (Elias Koteas) broke into the house and shot Peter's wife and daughters.

After being fatally wounded, Elizabeth tried to shoot Boyce and accidentally shot Peter, allowing Boyce to escape. Peter was then accused of the murder. Peter and Ann are suddenly attacked by Boyce and Ann's ex-husband, Jack, who reveals that he had hired Boyce to kill Ann so he could get revenge on her for divorcing him.

When he was still in the mental hospital, he decided that he could not have been Peter Ward because he would never kill his family; he made up a new name in which he used the numbers on his wrist band ID (W1-1L 8-10-10).

In turn, the audience learns that everything that has occurred up to this point in the movie was just fantasy. Peter is informed by the doctors that he claimed he was innocent. He returns to his house, which is actually abandoned and decrepit, and converses with the projections of his wife and daughters, who claim that they believe in his innocence.

Will Atenton (Daniel Craig), his wife, Libby (Rachel Weisz), and two daughters, Trish and Dee Dee, have recently moved to a new house. At first, the family lives there happily but soon Will's children start seeing a man watching the house from the front yard, and Will and Libby find evidence that something has happened to the house's previous owners.

Will eventually discovers that, 5 years prior, a woman named Elizabeth and her daughters Beatrice and Katherine were murdered; her husband, Peter Ward, was the main suspect, but he was let off because of lack of evidence and mentally wasn't able to face trial.

今週は、先週に引き続きダニエル・クレイグ主演のホラー『ドリームハウス』。

妻であるレイチェル・ワイズと夫婦役で共演ということが話題のはずが嫌味に映ったのか、映画の評判はイマイチと聞いていたけど、実際観てみるとそんなことはない。悪くはないぞ。

ダニエル・クレイグにレイチェル・ワイズ、加えてナオミ・ワッツとキャスティングが重いので、どうもストーリーが後に付いてくるように思える部分は否めない。でもホラー映画でこんなキャスティングはなかなかないんじゃないかな。

At MI6's underground headquarters, Q attempts to decrypt Silva's laptop, but inadvertently enables it to access the MI6 systems, allowing Silva to escape from MI6 custody. Realising Silva's capture was part of a plan to confront and kill M, Bond gives chase through the tunnel network under London.

Silva attacks M during a public inquiry into her handling of the stolen hard drive. Bond arrives in time to join Mallory and Eve in repelling Silva's attack, and M is hurried from the building by her aide, Bill Tanner. Bond drives M to Skyfall, his family estate and childhood home in Scotland.

Patrice wounds Bond in the shoulder and, as the two men fight atop a train, Eve inadvertently shoots Bond, allowing Patrice to escape. Bond falls into a river and goes missing, and is presumed to be dead.

今週は、ダニエル・クレイグ３作目の007、『スカイフォール』。先週、先々週と、少し政治的要素の強い作品をテーマにしたけど、今週はスカっとアクションもの。だいぶ前からDVDを持っていたのに観ることが出来なくて昨日やっと観たという・・・。もうWOWOWでも近々放送予定だよ。

かなりの前評判で期待していたんだけど、前作・前々作の方が良かったかなあという印象だった。もちろん、面白いんだけどね。アクションシーンが冒頭は良かったけど全体的に足らなかったかなという印象。007とヒロインの関係が薄かった感じ。Mと悪役に焦点が強くあたっていていまひとつ007の良さが出されていなかったような。

という感想を持ったのだけど、みんなはどうだったかな。今週は、そんな007／スカイフォールを観ていこう。

In March of that year, the U.S. invades Iraq and at first, the war appears to be a success, and Bush gives his infamous "Mission Accomplished" speech on an aircraft carrier. When it becomes clear that there are no weapons of mass destruction within Iraq, Bush learns that the responsibility for finding them had been relegated far down the chain of command.

Bush also discovers that Saddam gambled his regime and his life on the assumption that Bush was bluffing. Bush is asked in a White House press conference what mistakes he made as President, a question that leaves him flustered and speechless.

In 1994, Bush decides to run for Governor of Texas despite his father's opposition. In 1999, he makes a successful bid to become President. Following the September 11 attacks in 2001, Bush labels three of America's enemies – specifically Iran, Iraq, and North Korea — as the "axis of evil".

In 2002, Bush begins searching for evidence that Saddam was creating nuclear weapons, and has the army prepared. All of Bush's White House staff supports him except Secretary of State Colin Powell (Jeffrey Wright), who states that planning to invade Iraq would destabilize the country.

In 1977, Bush announces he will run for Congress in Texas. At a barbecue, Bush meets his future wife, Laura Lane Welch (Elizabeth Banks). During his congressional debate, Bush is criticized by his Democratic opponent, Kent Hance (Paul Rae), who says that Bush is not a "real Texan" and has spent campaign contributions to throw an alcohol-fueled party for underage Texas Tech University students.

Bush does poorly in the debate and loses the election, but with the highest number of votes for a Republican candidate in the state's history. Angered by his loss, Bush declares that he will "never be out-Texas'd or out-Christianed again".

In 1966, George W. Bush (Josh Brolin) endures an alcohol-fueled initiation by his fellow Yale University students as a Delta Kappa Epsilon pledge. During the hazing, Bush successfully recalls the names and nicknames of many of the fraternity members, and states that his family's political legacy is one in which he has no interest.

A little later, after Bush is jailed in New Jersey for rowdiness following a football game, his father, George H. W. Bush (James Cromwell), states that he will help Bush, but for the last time.

今週は、ジョージ・Ｗ・ブッシュの半生を描いたオリバー･ストーン監督作の『ブッシュ』をお送りしよう。

『ブッシュ』というタイトルになっているが、原題は『Ｗ．』。この辺がアメリカらしくてセンスがあるんだけど、"Ｗ．"では日本人には伝わらないので直接的に"ブッシュ"となっている。日本人が英語をいつまでも理解出来ないのがこういったところでわかるよね。感覚から変えないと日本人は英語をいつまでも理解出来ないと思うよ。それほど日本語と英語は違う。

The American Prospect published a piece by Garance Franke-Ruta criticizing the film for ignoring the role that municipal governance plays in crime in the United States, and ignoring African-American urban victims of violence while focusing on the unusual events of Columbine.

Early in the film, Moore links the violent behavior of the Columbine shooters to the presence of a large defense establishment manufacturing rocket technology in Littleton. It is implied that the presence of this facility within the community, and the acceptance of institutionalized violence as a solution to conflict, contributed to the mindset that led to the massacre.

The film title originates from the story that Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold—the two students responsible for the Columbine High School massacre—attended a school bowling class early that morning, at 6:00 AM, before they committed the attacks at school starting at 11:17 AM.

何週間か前、WOWOWでガス・ヴァン・サント監督の『エレファント』という映画を観た。1999年4月20日にコロラド州で起きたコロンバイン高校銃乱射事件をテーマにした作品だ。

第56回カンヌ国際映画祭で、最高賞のパルム・ドールと監督賞を史上初めて同時受賞した作品としても有名だということなんだけど、自分としては、このような凄惨な事件を映画化するのは何か釈然としなかった。出来るだけ事実に近い作りになっているんだけど、やはり映像的な演出も色濃く、パルムドールの基準って何なんだ？と疑問に思った。
